Difference between Aztecs and today’s society

There is a lot of difference between the Aztecs society and today's civilization. Life was hard for the poor during the Aztec life but it was much easier to live life in today’s society. As time passes technology improves. It’s much easier to get to a far distance faster than the earlier days; it would have taken days or even months for the Aztecs.  Trading food is part of 21st century but a bit different, someone countries buy food with money and get the food when other developing counties still does this type of trading. Houses back then were very small and easy to fall apart when today is built with bricks, metal, wood and resources that last for a long period of time.

Rich and poor is totally different, even though some families are poor; their children are still able to get educated.  This was the opposite compared to the Aztec period.

Men were always treated like they are more powerful than women. The men were treated by the women but it isn’t the same anymore.  Women have the same right and power as men in today’s life.  And in today’s society doesn’t have rules what men and women should be etc. men had to be warrior and women had to become wives and look after the family.

Aztec government

During the 1400 CE, the government of Aztec ruled the tribes nearby (neighbours).  The population of the Aztec increased; because of this the Aztec needed food for their population to raise, land to build temples, shelter, schools needed to be organised to educate the children.
The government was busy trying to manage theses for his people all at once.  And the population enlarged.

War was mainly inciting with the Aztec because they conquered many tribes. Of course the tribes were fed up and annoyed this is because they expect the tribes to provide food, clothes, valuable stones.  From this, the tribes dislike the Aztec they simply ran away then fight.

The Aztec like any other has one main leader who took control of anyone. The Tenochtitlan is located in the capital city; it was a palace for the king to live.

As time passed, the Aztec empire matured, he ordered several cities to be built. In every city, one rich family would rule one city.  From research, the rich family was supposed to be under the Aztec rules what to do with the city, but they simply just ruled the city their own way and how they like.

Back in those times, the Aztec punished their people from going against the law. People who were drunk was the worst thing to do, death was the punishment for them. But not only death was sent to the drunks, thieves were too sent to death. Law was so important then, that it was written down.

There was this “forgiveness” thing where when you broke the law, you can be forgiven but only once. But it only happens and is aloud before you get caught. You had to tell that you broke the law then you would be forgiven.

Rights and Freedoms for the Aztec Society

In Aztec society, there are three main groups. The three main groups from highest to lowest are the nobles, the artisans and merchants and lastly the commoners. These break off into other levels of that certain group but a more in depth view is in Aztec People.

The Nobility                                                                                                                                                                          The nobles were the highest ranked in many levels of Aztec society but worked under the governors, judges, ambassadors and tax collectors. The highest job a Nobel could get was to be an advisor to the tlantoni. The nobles that were of lesser standards could have become scribes or teachers. Nobles also had access to the high positions in the church and could be a high ranking in the army.

The family of nobles is not like in our society. The nobles could require several wives and live in a two storey house he built. The children of nobles could attend calmecac or schools that could lead them to beginning a priest. Unlike some children, they would learn how to read, write, and study the Aztec calendar. Amongst other subjects they learnt were strategies on the battlefields, martial arts and history and mythology.

The Artisans and Merchants                                                                                                                                       Artisans and merchants were a different class of people even though some of think of them to be commoners. The reason why they are not commoners is because they are wealthier and would belong to traveling groups that were not ruled or governed by anyone but themselves. Merchants were also allowed to travel as they pleased without risk of being persecuted by the law. Their jobs were often spies, and would often be seen selling fine goods that no commoner would be able to offered. They would sell fine clothing, stones, jewellery, and beautiful fabrics. However they would stay in one place to long because they would always be travelling. Merchants and artisans have the most freedom and have the most control over their lives.

The Commoners                                                                                                                                                                      The commoners were the lowest ranked and were often fishermen, farmers or soilders. Commoners were to pay tax and could be required to serve in the army if needed. Slavery was not required and many men and women could volunteer. Slaves who would volunteer could chose when become free again if there circumstances changed to a better place. Commoners that became soldiers could easily move up the social ladder due to the pay and requirements, so if a better life was wished most men would become a soldier.
